Austria’s customs administration has completely phased out physical routing slips (Laufzettel), mandating pre-arrival digital declarations via the ACCS platform across all land borders.

Automatic number plate recognition matching QR codes has slashed average border clearance times from 18 minutes to under 7, with Authorised Economic Operators (AEO) clearing express lanes in 2 minutes.
