Smart Tachograph v2: Border-Crossing Compliance
European transport authorities are paying increasing attention to Smart Tachograph Generation 2 Version 2 (G2V2) in international road transport.
During roadside inspections, authorities can check whether automated GNSS border-crossing records are correct and whether drivers properly record loading and unloading activities.
Inspectors may also compare tachograph data with transport orders and CMR documents. Incorrect records or attempts to override automated border-crossing data can lead to fines and negative consequences for the operator’s compliance rating.
For international hauliers, it is therefore important to make sure that tachograph data matches the actual transport operation.
At VTS, we support subcontracted fleets with digital compliance procedures, helping ensure that tachograph, telematics and transport documentation remain aligned.
